IMPROV COMEDY WORKSHOP

with Prof. Casey Grambo

WHAT:

  • Are you a comedy fan?
  • Are you an actor who want to shake off some rust?
  • Are you preparing for TF wacky and wild production of PRIDE & PREJUDICE next spring?
  • Do you want to sharpen your "on the spot" skills in big business?
  • Are you looking for a creative way to reconnect after the isolation of COVID
                (aka figure out how to "human" again)? 

Then this workshop is for you!

 

Participants will: 

  • Learn the principles & foundational skills of improv comedy
  • Work together to play theater games and build improvised scenes 
  • Cultivate creativity and strengthen communication skills 
  • Perform in a culminating improv show, featuring short-form games and long-form scenes. 
  • Laugh and have fun! 

This workshop is conducted IN-PERSON. 

 

WHEN:

This Workshop meets in the fall semester, Friday evenings.

Regular attendance and full participation is expected

and a short reflection paper will be due following the last session.


ABOUT OUR PROFESSOR:

Casey Grambo is a comedian and theater artist based in Hartford, CT. She has been performing improvisational comedy professionally since 2012 (almost a decade! ::she faints::). Casey is a founding member of the Sea Tea Comedy Theater where she performs, produces, and directs improv and sketch comedy. Casey has taught improv at Sea Tea Improv Studios, Hartford Stage, Happier Valley Comedy, and for organizations and companies across New England as a member of Sea Tea Improv’s Touring Company. 


Casey is a graduate of the Upright Citizens Brigade’s Long-Form Improvisation program in NYC and was accepted into the UCB Advanced Study Improv program in 2015. She earned her B.A. in Theatre from Fairfield University where she was a member of Theatre Fairfield’s improv company, On The Spot, and the co- president of YMDI.


Currently, Casey serves as the Associate Director of Development Communications and Alumni Affairs at David Geffen School of Drama and Yale Repertory Theatre at Yale University. She has worked in production and administrative capacities at many Connecticut theaters including Hartford Stage, Westport Country Playhouse, and Night Fall, an annual performance held in Hartford’s public parks.
