As theatre artists we build empathy, we celebrate diversity and human dignity, and we seek to discover fundamental truths. We use theatre to explore our common humanity.
We in the Theatre Fairfield community are horrified by the senseless murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and so many others. Our hearts are broken, and we feel deeply for these families. For far too long, systemic racism, injustice, violence, and economic inequality have poisoned our country. We know the deep and abiding pain this inflicts on our fellow human beings.
We see you. We hear you. We grieve with you.
We will continue to use theatre to reconsider outmoded beliefs and practices, to nurture empathy and global citizenship, and to welcome and empower all humans. Together we can make a stronger, more unified world.
We pledge to be anti-racist, we support those who protest injustice, and we stand in solidarity with all who strive to transform society for the greater good.
