WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

Shannon Kelley '19

Owen Corey '14

Fall 2022: Owen is performing the role of Mr. Green in CLUE at the Bristol Riverside Theatre in Pennsylvania.

Owen Corey ('14) took his solo production of Richard II to the international monodrama festival in the Czech Republic. The show emerged from the pandemic as a digital show, opening on the fallen king alone in his cell, using kinetic body puppetry to draw the audience into his story and prepare himself for his fate. The show was submitted to a variety of international digital festivals and received rave reviews before being invited to perform in-person at the monodrama festival in Cheb, in the Czech Republic.

Three alumnae who majored in Theatre at Fairfield shared how their post-graduate careers have taken them down very different paths.  They discussed how they’ve applied their Fairfield backgrounds to each challenge and triumph they’ve encountered along the way.

Maggie Greene
Maggie currently lives in Brooklyn, New York and works in Manhattan at Signature Theatre. Signature Theatre is an off-Broadway not-for-profit theatre with an annual operating budget of over 10 million dollars. Maggie works in the Development department as the Individual Giving Officer where she works to raise annual operating support from individual donors. On a day-to-day basis she plans fundraising appeals, manages donor membership programs, strategizes the cultivation and stewardship efforts for donors and prospects, and manages the digital media strategy and printed materials for her department. Maggie has always felt that working in fundraising for theatre is simply about finding mutual passions for art and forming connections with others.

While at Fairfield University, Maggie was a Production Intern during her sophomore and senior years, and studied abroad in London during her junior year at Regents University. Maggie was an avid participant in annual student-run Independent Projects generously sponsored by the Jamie A. Hulley Arts Foundation. She spent any free hours she had working in the Quick Center box office and spent a large part of her senior year commuting to and from New York City to have a part-time internship at Theatre Communications Group.

During her sophomore year, Maggie decided that a career in Theatre Management was what she would like to do, so with the help of Dr. Martha LoMonaco and Dr. Carl Scheraga she created an Independent Major in Theatre Administration & Management. This major was the first of its kind at Fairfield. With its specially designed combination of classes (from theatre, to marketing, to management, to English) Maggie was set her up for her career of choice. Shortly after graduation Maggie went on to work at Hartford Stage, Theatre for a New Audience and Signature Theatre.
